PhD and POSTDOC positions available in the "PHOTOMACHINES" Project, Czech Republic

Are you a forward-thinking scientist ready to revolutionize the field of photosynthesis and production cells? Are you interested in applying cutting-edge methods in science? Join our new project 5-years length institutional project - "PHOTOMACHINES" (launching January 1st, 2024). The project will combine deep knowledge in BASIC SCIENCE and APPLIED SCIENCE and involve cooperation at various levels

Project Goal

The project seeks experts to transform cyanobacterial cells into specialized photosynthetic production cells. The two advertised positions will focus on addressing the BASIC RESEARCH QUESTIONS (Task 1.5): "Regulation of bioenergetics homeostasis at the protein/membrane levels." The selected candidates will investigate the bioenergetics of cyanobacteria at various levels, spanning from proteins to membranes and single-cell, utilizing cutting-edge technology such as super-resolution microscopy.

Required Qualifications

We seek an enthusiastic and independent POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER and Ph.D. STUDENT. The preferable background is in biology/microbiology or biophysics, any past experience in photosynthesis/confocal microscopy/membrane proteins is advantageous. The project will require:

-Ph.D. or Master's degrees, ready to start with the project between May and September 2024

- Effective team-working skills, flexibility, good English skills, ability to present data, interest in learning new things/methods, Computer literacy, effective data processing skills (image processing is a plus)

What We Offer

  • A friendly and welcoming international work environment
  • Attending international conferences, collaborating with other labs (Czechia, Europe)
  • Access to cutting-edge technology and resources (microscopic methods, Mass-Spec, etc)
  • An opportunity to be at the forefront of groundbreaking research.
  • Collaborative work environment with leading experts in the field.
  • Competitive salary (scholarship for PhD) and social benefits.
  • If you are ready to embark on this interesting scientific journey,

WE ARE HAPPY TO INVITE YOU TO BE PART OF THE "PHOTOMACHINES" PROJECT
